I am an experienced trainer, having worked internationally for 2 decades as a social justice facilitator using a person-centred approach to support people, groups, communities and organisations to become more fully themselves and to live in more alignment with their values. I am also a person-centred therapist and began facilitating the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills in 2022.

I love accompanying people engaged in this powerful and transformative process. As a therapist and trainer, I deeply value the lived experience we each bring with us, and I work to co-create a nurturing and empowering environment.

I have worked for many years as an accredited COSCA trainer, as a Person Centred therapist and as a counsellor supervisor. Previously I worked as a support worker, a community worker and youth worker in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh.

For many years, until recently, I was one of the COSCA Certificate Course Leads at Edinburgh College and instrumental in developing the highly successful Certificate programme there.

From this work, I know well the value of the Counselling Certificate course as a catalyst for deep and radical personal change and professional development - I love being alongside students engaged in that process.

I completed my Counselling Diploma 15 years ago and have had experience working in a variety of settings with diverse groups of people. Working primarily in the third sector, I have been involved in fundraising and setting up counselling services, as well as providing Counselling to a wide range of people. I specialise in working with Children and Young People, and for the last 10 years have worked as a School Counsellor in schools across Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian.

As a trainer, I have been delivering the Cosca Certificate since 2021 and love the variety it brings to my practice. I enjoy the dynamic of group work and seeing students develop both personally and professionally. It’s a privilege to be part of this journey with students and to see the impact Counselling can have on people’s lives.

I have worked in education for almost 4 decades, initially as a teacher of English and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages). In recent years the opportunity to work as part of the Edinburgh College team delivering the COSCA Certificate allowed me to blend the teaching part of my working life with my counselling and supervision training. I am a COSCA accredited trainer and run a busy private practice with clients and supervisees 2.5 days a week. I am a member of COSCA and PCT Scotland.

The most satisfying work is always the moment when someone gains confidence in a new idea, a new skill, a new sense of themselves…the lightbulb moments, the gear shifts. For me, being part of someone’s development in that way is a profound privilege.
